“Machine” — Fangoria 2010

Created by two of POKE’s finest beard wearers, Jason and Gavin Fox, incredible stuff from the comfort of their own garage. If i had a hat on I would take it off, but its that good I will buy a hat, put it on, then take it off.

Radiohead “Karma Police”

Going back to my somewhat forgotten favourite videos on a Tuesday idea heres an old favourite in Radiohead’s “Karma Police” great song with a great video directed by Jonathan Glazer, previously responsible for Radiohead’s “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” clip. The video premiered in August 1997 and featured Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke as well as Hungarian actor Lajos Kovács. Glazer won MTV’s Director of the Year award in 1997 for his work on this, as well as Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity”. Glazer however revealed in an interview that he considers this video to be a failed attempt. According to MTV.com, Glazer had pitched the concept of the “Karma Police” video months earlier to Marilyn Manson, who disliked it.

UNKLE (feat. Radiohead/Thom Yorke) “Rabbit in Your Headlights”

Directed by John Glazer this is certainly up there with my favourite music videos of all time (songs pretty fucking good as well), 4.23 is one of the coolest things i’ve ever seen.

“Bruce”

At Poke we have just seen a delightful array of films from Alex of Agile Films, a production house down the road from us. One of the directors showcased was young animator Tom Judd, this is his graduation video from 2009 and its fucking sweet, so watch it. Bruce is an award winning animation that explores how advances in open-source synthetic biology allow a young man to grow his very own action hero.

Michael Jackson “Leave Me Alone”

As part of a want for a regular feature I will from now be uploading a favourite music video every Tuesday, lets call it Tuesday “Tuneday”, works in a really shit kind of way. Anyway this week I am going to kick things off with Michael Jackson’s “Leave Me Alone”, its scrapbook style stop frame animation is incredibly charming, and what a tune takes me straight back to life without public hair.

The Black Hole

Wicked video I saw a while ago but then couldn’t remember what it was called to show anyone who hadn’t seen it, either way it’s ace so needs to be stored on here even if it is old news, concept and audio is awesome.

“The Social Network” — Teaser

Here’s the first teaser for David Fincher’s latest — The Social Network, staring Jesse Eisenberg (from “Rodger Dodger”, wicked film you should definitely watch) as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Justin Timberlake as Napster founder Sean Parker, who after “Alpha Dog”, I have some acting respect for, it was surprisingly good and definitely worth a watch, even if its a hungover one.

“Baby, Baby, Baby”

I find myself using this video as a point of reference quite often so thought it should be featured, even if its just so I know where to find it, saying that i’ll will no doubt have no need to again, nevertheless its pretty cool.
